Emily Bate is a Philadelphia-based singer, composer and harmony fanatic.

Recent projects include choral theater piece Going Down Mount Moriah, and several shows with frequent collaborator Erin Markey: Boner Killer, Hey Girl! That’s My Girl! and the anarcho-musical A Ride on the Irish Cream, which she co-composed and performed in. The music in A Ride on the Irish Cream was “accessible, often punchy pop-rock” (New York Times), whose “soaring musical numbers” (Artforum) were “startlingly gorgeous, and packed with heavenly harmonies” (New York Post). Their new show Little Surfer is currently in development.

Other composing credits include Destiny Estimate by MJ Kaufman, The Wizard of Oz, and the score for the forthcoming film Queer Genius by Catherine Pancake.

Emily has played in & contributed to many bands, like: The Lesbian Wedding Band, Jonagold, kid rock band The Cat’s Pajamas, Zach Fay, Soft Center, The Bells, and Potpourri of Pearls.
